The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the incident occurred Saturday morning.

The Sheriff's Office said Matthew McRee, 36, was in the driver's seat, and that Christina Mattessino, 30, was in the passenger's seat. A 2-year-old child was also in the vehicle.

"A search of the car led deputies to the discovery of a soda can containing heroin on the floorboard, as well as marijuana stuck in the passenger side air vent," according to a news release.

Deputies also found drug paraphernalia in Mattessino's purse, the release stated.

The child was released into the custody of relatives.
