An arrest has been made after police said a woman was slashed in the face and that her father was punched.

The person arrested is 17 years old and is the victim's stepson. He is charged with attempted murder.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning in the 800 block of 7th Street NW.
The woman, who is 42 years old and 23 weeks pregnant, told police that she heard a noise coming from the bathroom at about 6:15 a.m. She ran toward the kitchen area and was grabbed from behind by someone who took a knife and slashed at her face and neck.

The woman's father entered the kitchen and jumped on the person's back. The culprit broke away and punched the father in the face, police said.
The culprit then left the scene, police said.
The woman was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The father was not hurt.
Police said the 17-year-old told his stepmother he didn't want to enroll for his first day at Largo High School.
