A mural of angel wings painted on the back of a building along a Lakeland alley is attracting a lot of attention.

  • Lakeland artist Aaron Corbitt painted the mural
  • Pictures posted on social media
  • It's located on South Florida Avenue

People take pictures of each other while standing next to the wall and then post the pictures on social media.

Sheri Greenhoe heard about the angel wings selfie wall and came to look for the mural in the Dixieland area.

Greenhoe and her brother-in-law took a number of pictures of each other just for the fun of it. Greenhoe posed as if she was praying.

"I just thought it looked angelic to do that," she said with a laugh.

Ally Robare has her photo taken at the mural.

Lakeland artist Aaron Corbitt painted the mural that includes rays of rainbows. He said he came up with that idea after an unusual reflection on his cell phone while painting.

"The hallelujah feeling, that was a happy accident," he said.

Andrew Pring and some co-workers took pictures of each other with the angel wings. He said it made him think of his brother Chad, who died about a year ago from heart problems.

"When I saw the wings that's what I thought of. Every time I see angel wings that's what I think of. Going to see my brother one day," he said.

Lakeland businessman Gregory Fancelli paid for the mural. It's located on the alley side of 1113 Florida Avenue South in Lakeland.
