  • Suspect caught on surveillance video

Officials said 63 outdoor lights, worth $20,000, were stolen from the Belle Meade community in Hillsborough about two weeks ago.

The neighborhood has more than 130 homeowners who pay quarterly dues and the money is used to purchase those lights.

The lights start at $300 each and are manufactured at a Tampa company called Garden Light LED.

"A licensed installer would have to purchase them here. No Home Depot, Lowes, anywhere online, anything like that. From us is where you'd have to purchase them," said Mario Casillas with Garden Light LED.

The manager said the company is also on the lookout for the thieves.

One of the suspects was caught on surveillance video walking across the street with a handful of lights before being picked up by a waiting car.

The president of the Belle Meade Association said the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office may have a good lead.

"He [the suspect] left three lights. He must've laid them down, forgot where he put them and so the police have those and they're dusting them for fingerprints right now," said Jeanne Sullivan, Belle Meade HOA president.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance video to call (813) 247-8555.
