Polk County firefighters are battling another brush fire.

According to reporters, first responders were called at 12:42 p.m. Sunday regarding an out of control brush fire near 1712 Dawn Heights Drive in Lakeland. Firefighters said the flames spread quickly and several homes and businesses were in danger of being destroyed.

Pipes in a grassy area at Wolseley Industrial Group caught on fire, which caused enormous plumes of dark smoke to fill the sky.

No residential structures were destroyed.

Most of the fire was extinguished by 3:30 p.m., but authorities say there are still several hot spots.

Multiple crews worked together to bring the fire under control; firefighters are remaining on scene to put out flare-ups.
