An arrest has been made in an armed robbery that took place during the weekend in Brandon.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Estevan Lerma was identified as the suspect in the robbery Monday. Deputies obtained a warrant and arrested Lerma without incident the same day. 

He is charged with robbery with a weapon of $300 or more.

Detectives said Lerma approached a person at 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the Suncoast Credit Union ATM at 1370 Oakfield Drive in Brandon. Lerma brandished a silver, .40 caliber handgun and demanded money, deputies said.

The person handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, then attempted to take the firearm away from Lerma. As the two struggled, the gun went off. There were no injuries.

Lerma, who was seen in surveillance video, then left the scene on foot.
