  • Toddler left in hot vehicle in Brandon
  • Jacob Manchego, 2, was in SUV for 5 hours outside day care
  • No charges have been filed

According to deputies, the toddler was left in a hot SUV for 5 hours Tuesday.

Authorities said the young child, identified as 2-year-old Jacob Manchego, was being driven by his half-sister, Fiorella Vanessa Silva-Tello, 21, Tuesday morning on her way to work at a Brandon day care center.

After going into her place of employment -- Best Friends for Kidz child care center in Brandon -- Silva-Tello reportedly returned to her SUV around 2:30 p.m. She found Jacob inside the vehicle, unconscious.

Grabbing her brother, Silva-Tello ran into a nearby dialysis center in the same shopping center. Employees there called 911, deputies say, and administered CPR.

Deputies say Jacob was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he later died.

At 2:30 p.m., it was 89 degrees in Brandon.

Authorities haven't stated why Jacob was in his sister's care, or if he was meant to join her at the day care center.

No charges have been filed. But the case is being investigated by the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office.
