Vice President Mike Pence spoke in Palm Beach Saturday about Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch

Pence said he believes Gorsuch will be confirmed, but that the nomination will go to a vote "one way or another."

Pence has frequently compared Gorsuch to the late Antonin Scalia and said the seat vacated by Scalia belongs to the American people.

Some Democrats have already voiced their opposition, but the vice president said it would be unwise for them to try and use the filibuster procedure to stop him.

"President Trump and I have full confidence that Judge Gorsuch will be confirmed, but rest assured, we will work with the senate leadership to ensure that Judge Gorsuch gets an up or down vote on the senate floor one way or another," Pence said.

President Donald Trump has advised Senate leader Mitch McConnel to invoke the so-called "nuclear option" if necessary.

The nuclear option lowers the threshold necessary to confirm supreme court justices from 60 to 51 if Republicans encounter gridlock over the nomination.
