A 26-year-old Treasure Island woman has been arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter after a fatal pedestrian crash in Madeira Beach.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Ashley Konforte was driving her Hyundai Elantra sedan southbound on Gulf Boulevard Wednesday just before 8:30 p.m. when she struck a 73-year-old woman. 

Nancy Durham-Jones of North Port was in the cross walk just north of 130th Avenue and had activated the flashing signal. Durham-Jones, who was crossing the street with her husband, suffered fatal injuries

Paramedics from Madeira Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Durham-Jones dead at the scene.

Investigators said that Konforte showed signs of impairment at the scene of the crash and admitted to taking multiple prescription drugs. Investigators also found marijuana inside Konforte's vehicle.

Konforte was charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter and one count of possession of marijuana.
