The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide from Saturday night.
Deputies were called out to the area of Libby Lane and Deerfield Lane in reference to shots fired.
There they found a deceased male laying near the roadway.
The victim was identified as Thomas Edward Walker, 38.
Deputies learned that Walker was sitting on the corner playing chess with someone. Walker walked away and deputies said that is when someone drove by and fired multiple shots.
Investigators said he died from "upper body trauma," but are still waiting for the medical examiner to determine the exact cause of death.
