A fiery motorcycle crash in Hillsborough County Tuesday afternoon, left one man dead and two vehicles completely destroyed.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said a sports bike crashed into the back of a tractor trailer.

The accident happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Queen Palm Drive and Broadway Avenue in Tampa.

Officials said Jorge Puentes, 51, was driving a tractor trailer on Broadway Ave. and preparing to turn left onto Queen Palm Dr. with about 10 cars behind him.

Michael Pierce, 30, who was driving a Suzuki sports bike, attempted to pass the line of cars in the westbound lane and ended up crashing into the back of the tractor trailer, rupturing the gas tank.

Officials said both vehicles went up in flames and Pierce died at the scene.

A third car was also hit by Pierce during the accident.  

The driver of the third vehicle and Puentes were not injured.

Officials said no charges are expected.
