Pedestrian in serious condition after St. Pete hit and run

A pedestrian is in serious condition after he was hit early Wednesday morning.

Troopers said Robert Klimczak, 56, was walking westbound along 44^th Avenue North when a vehicle traveling the same way collided with him.

The vehicle then took off, troopers said.

Klimczak was transported to Bayfront Medical Center in critical condition.

The accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Currently, investigators have no description of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
