A HART city bus collided with a cement mixer truck early Friday in Ybor City.

According to Tampa police, the crash happened on 7th Avenue at 21st Street just after 6 a.m. The crash happened in front of the Columbia Restaurant.

Officials said the cement truck driver, Damien Boatwright, ran a red light and collided with the bus. Boatwright has been charged in the crash. 

The collision caused the cement truck to turn over on its side. Traffic was rerouted in the area for roughly 2 and a half hours. 

Officials said 21 passengers were on the bus and nine were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. 

Both the driver of the truck and bus were treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

Officials said the accident cause $20,000 in damages to both the bus and the cement truck. A light pole valued at $2,000 was also knocked over. And a $500 bike affixed to the bike rack on the bus was destroyed. 

The crash remains under investigation.
