Anthony “Snake” Brigitzer, 50, is charged with grand theft of a firearm, battery, and kidnapping.
Police said the 70-year-old victim previously used Brigitzer for odd jobs around the house.
The kidnapping incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 5700 block of Espanola Avenue.
Police said Brigitzer wrapped his arms around the victim and stunned her with a stun gun. When that didn’t work, he bound the victim’s feet, hands, and chest to a chair with duct tape.
During the incident, Brigitzer found a handgun and money he said he needed for drugs.
The victim was held captive for nearly eight hours. Around 4:30 p.m., police said Brigitzer decided to leave and let the elderly woman go.
Brigitzer fled the area in his truck and was located in Lee County.
Police said Brigitzer is a convicted felon and was recently released from prison this past August.
He is currently in the Sarasota County jail on no bond.
