Man critically injured after hit and run in Sarasota

Sarasota police are searching for a hit and run suspect and the vehicle involved.

Suspected truck, a white Chevy Silverado, being sought

Police said a man in his late 20s was hit around 2 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Pineapple Avenue and 1^st Street in Sarasota.

Police said the victim was in the roadway when he was hit by a white Chevy Silverado. It is unknown why the victim was in the road.

The victim was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police are currently searching for the Chevy that left the scene of the accident. They said the truck might have damage on the left front quarter panel.
