This September, Mosaic Company will open "Streamsong Black," its third golf course at Streamsong Resort.

  • Course designed by Olympics course architect Gil Hanse
  • Project team says construction on schedule
  • New course addresses capacity problem for resort

Designed by Gil Hanse, the architect who designed the golf course for the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, the new course is expected to draw golfers from around the world.

"It's just going to open the doors to a lot more visiting golfers from all over the nation,” said Scott Wilson, Director of Golf at Streamsong Resort. “We've got a lot of people coming from international destinations, from Scotland, Ireland, England, over to Germany and Switzerland.”

Frequent visitors like Greg Jones can't wait to check it out.

"I’m interested to see how it'll be different than the two existing courses,” said Greg Jones. “So excited for a little more variety. It should be great."

The project team said construction is on schedule, and added the new course has more of a rolling topography that stretches as far as the eye can see, as well as its own clubhouse and two-acre putting course.

"The bunkering is more of a riveted style, akin to the courses in the sand belt of Australia and Melbourne," said Wilson.

"Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue are a little wild and jagged and abrupt in the topography," said Tom Sunnarborg, VP of Land Development and Management for Mosaic Company. "Whereas Streamsong Black is big. It feels big. And it's got big wide shoulders.”

Sunnarborg said the high demand from golfers is one of the main reasons Mosaic decided to build the new course.

"Black is an answer to a capacity problem for us," said Sunnarborg. "Streamsong has launched and we've been very successful. But there are certain times of the year, especially during our high season, where we just need more golf. We can't accommodate all of the demand that we have."

He added that tens of thousands of golfers visit the Streamsong courses every year. Wilson said the first few days for the new golf course are already sold out.
