While battling a wildfire in Polk County, firefighters faced another challenge: a rattlesnake.

On Saturday, firefighters found a rattlesnake while protecting a structure.

The snake was spotted shortly after a Florida Forest Service helicopter dumped water on the fire.

“While our crews are working, they must be extremely careful and watch for other hazards,” said Battalion Chief Chris Hancock.

Video of the snake was posted to the Polk County Fire Rescue Facebook page.

Firefighters encountered a similar experience a month ago while extinguishing a brush fire in the same area.

The brush fire at Indian Lake Estates burned about 700 acres. No injures have been reported.

The fire has been ruled suspicious and is under investigation.
