Arson investigators were back on State Road 54 Wednesday looking into the five fires sparked Tuesday.

Authorities believe the fires that shut down State Road 54 at County Road 54 were intentionally started.

The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Within eight minutes, all the fires were started within a half-mile radius.

During that time, a Florida Forest Service plane spotted three juveniles.

The three juveniles were accused of trespassing and have since been released to their parents as the investigation continues.

The five fires burned a total of 32 acres. Crews worked into Tuesday evening to contain them.

"There was no lighting (Tuesday), there was no infrastructure failure, meaning no power lines or anything came down," said Chief Shawn Whited. "So those were caused by human hands. We don't have that many fires that close together."

There is a burn ban in place. The county says on a scale of one to five, fire danger is at a four. So even throwing a cigarette butt out the window can spark a wildfire.

If the juveniles are charged, they will face felony charges. If they are convicted, they will be responsible for all the manpower and resources used to put out the fires.

County officials said a juvenile was arrested in March for a 14-acre fire near Seven Springs.
