In Sarasota, Everyday Hero host Bill Murphy met Braden River High School senior Brianna Moss, an 18-year-old who has logged many hours with Goodwill Manasota, and who also just happens to be Goodwill’s youth ambassador.

“I’ve been interning for Goodwill since last March 2016 and I’ve gained a lot of P.R. experience working in their P.R. program in the communications department since then,” Moss said.  “Basically since last summer it was like my second job.  I was there like three to four times a week.”

Moss was the driving force in encouraging area high schools to become involved in the ‘Be Cool School Challenge’ to benefit those in need.

At one of the schools taking part, Sarasota High, students were filling a box of items to be donated to Goodwill.

“It helps out with getting the teens involved in the community. It’s a good way because sometime not everybody can make it to Goodwill, you know,” Moss said.

Sarah Marin, a senior at Sarasota High, talked about one of the benefits of the drive.

“To get more students around the school to be involved with our community and donate whatever they had around their house that they knew somebody else could use,” Marin said.

A second box at the front of the school was also full, making this 'Be Cool School Challenge' a great success.

And for Moss, who plans to go on to college with a communications major and eventually work full time at Goodwill, it’s another day and challenge doing what she loves.

Her passion finds words.

“It cleanses my soul to be able to work with such great people knowing that they’re doing such great things for the community,” Moss said.
