Heading into the week, temperatures will be in the 80s. Here's a look at the Bay area forecast:

  • Some rain chances this week
  • Tampa hit 95, setting new record high
  • Sarasota/Bradenton Airport hit 95 for record high

The evening will be breezy, especially near the coast.  Skies will be partly cloudy overnight.

Some low clouds or fog will form late.  Lows will again be in the mid 70s around Tampa Bay near 70 for the Nature Coast.

An upper level ridge of high pressure overhead will start sliding east and gradually away from Florida.  This will  allow temperatures to edge down in the afternoon a little, starting Monday

On Monday, the morning fog and low clouds will give way to partly cloudy skies. It will be breezy, but the sea breeze will form in the afternoon. It will stay close to the coast.

There will be a couple showers in the late afternoon to evening along the sea breeze, best chance for rain will be inland.  The high temperatures will be mostly in the upper 80s. It will still be very muggy though.  A cold front moving through the Southeast U.S. will move into the Gulf Monday.

This system will track gradually closer and into the Bay area on Tuesday.

Showers and a few storms will move onshore from the Gulf Tuesday through Wednesday as the front slows down and stalls over the area.

Rain chances will drop down to 30% for Thursday.

Another front is likely on Friday. It should bring decent rain chances. Temperatures may actually drop below normal briefly just behind the front.

- On Monday, as the cold front moves east, showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread across much of the eastern U.S., including the major East Coast cities by Monday afternoon and evening.  On the western side of the low pressure system, cold air in place will allow snow to fall across portions of the Upper Midwest Monday.

-The shower activity over the northeast Caribbean will diminish Monday. Moderate to fresh trade winds continue over the Caribbean.
