Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Friday on through the end of Mother's Day weekend.

  • Rain chance Saturday
  • Slightly less humid Mother's Day
  • Hot by midweek

Lows tonight will not drop as much as last night, mainly staying in the mid 60s north to mid 70s around Tampa Bay. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy late, and a southwest breeze will continue into the overnight hours.

The heaviest rains will likely make it into Citrus and Hernando Counties then will weaken as the area drifts south. There will be some spots that see a downpour, while there will be some spots farther south and southeast that don’t get a single drop.

High temperatures will be lower, mainly in the low to mid 80s due to a breezy wind from the west coming off the cooler gulf waters and some more clouds. The front will push that broken line of showers out of the area Saturday evening.

Lows will drop into the 60s to near 70 Saturday night behind the weak front.  The dew points will edge down just slightly by Sunday morning.

A front is on the way for Saturday, but unfortunately it looks like the front will weaken considerably by the time it reaches us. Therefore we only expect some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The rain chance is around 40 percent.

Mother's Day on Sunday will be just slightly less humid, but don’t expect any cooler air. Instead, it will be a bit warmer with highs in the mid to upper 80s with a return of more sunshine.

Next week will have mostly sunny skies each day. Monday and Tuesday will have a light generally easterly wind allowing a sea breeze.  High temperatures will edge into the low 90s, though.
