One person was killed early Friday when they were struck by a vehicle on a north Tampa street.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened before 6 a.m. on Waters Avenue at Manhattan Avenue, just west of Dale Mabry Highway.
Officials said Ivan Martinez was crossing Waters Avenue and walked into the path of a Nissan Altima, driven by Mario Ramos. Ramos tried to avoid the crash but was unable to stop and struck Martinez, officials said.
Martinez was pronounced dead on scene.
The crash closed the westbound lanes for several hours.
