FHP: Motorcyclist killed in Hillsborough crash

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving two cars and a motorcycle in Hillsborough County late Wednesday afternoon.

  • Vance Ralph Eldridge, Jr., 27, died following crash
  • Incident occurred on MLK Jr. Boulevard east of I-4
  • Investigators believe motorcyclist ran red light

Troopers said at around 4:30 p.m. Vance Ralph Eldridge, Jr., 27, was riding his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on E. MLK Jr. Boulevard east of the on ramp to I-4 when he ran a red light.

Eldridge then collided with another westbound car making a left turn under a green arrow traffic signal in order to get onto I-4. After the collision, Eldridge's bike continued eastbound into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a third vehicle.

Eldridge was transported from the scene to an area hospital, where he later died. No other drivers were injured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
