More than 125 firefighters needed hours to contain a Thursday afternoon commercial structure fire.

  • Five-alarm fire Thursday in Bradenton
  • Two firefighters treated for heat exhaustion
  • Crews will remain at scene for several more hours

The five-alarm fire broke out Thursday afternoon at Callahan Tire warehouse at 44th Avenue and 15th Street in Bradenton.

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital because of heat exhaustion.

Smoke could be seen from at least a couple of miles away.

"We were all on lunch and out of the corner of my eye I saw what looked like a flame," said Richard Paree.

The flame quickly grew to a large blaze that engulfed the building.

Authorities said the fire was difficult to fight in part because of the materials burning.

Hazmat crews responded to monitor the water run-off.

One firefighter told Bay News 9 that crews could remain at the scene until midnight.
