Here's your Tampa area forecast for late Friday on through the weekend, with a preview of next week.

  • Higher humidity
  • PM rain chances
  • Not as hot next week

A welcome sight today -- atmospheric moisture increased, with showers and storms popping up across the region. Although not everyone will get the rain, at least there are chances of more scattered storms into the weekend.

With the storms dying down, skies will go from partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight into early Saturday morning. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

It’s nice to see the increase in moisture, because this will allow us to finally get some beneficial rains back in the area. Keep in mind, though, this is also why our humidity is much higher, and therefore it will feel muggy through the weekend.

Expect another hot and humid day for Saturday, with sunny to partly cloudy skies in the morning followed by a 40 percent coverage of scattered storms in the afternoon to evening. Highs will reach the mid 90s before the afternoon storms kick in.

Any scattered storms will die down in the evening, and then skies will clear for Saturday night with lows in the low to mid 70s.

Sunday will be very similar, with a sunny morning followed by a partly cloudy afternoon and a 50 percent coverage of scattered storms.

A change in the pattern next week will result in lower temperatures and even a cold front approaching our area.
