Pasco County deputies were involved in a shooting early Sunday morning in the area of Darlington and U.S. 19.

Deputies responded to the area around 1:40 a.m. in reference to a reported shooting.

When deputies arrived they spotted Christopher J. Cutugno, 26, leaving the area in a vehicle and pursued the vehicle. 

Cutugno began to shoot at deputies as they tried to conduct a felony stop. 

Officials said the he fired at deputies again when they reached the dead-end of Eastwood Lane. 

Deputies returned fire and were able to take the suspect into custody. 

Officials said no one was injured during the shooting. 

During the pursuit, officials said the suspect took out some mailboxes. 

Cutugno is facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault.
