Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Tuesday through Wednesday, with a preview of the weekend.

A Coastal Flood Watch is posted along the West Coast of Florida from Wednesday through Thursday morning. Strong onshore winds will bring water levels above normal at high tide. Coastal flooding of 1-2 feet above normal tides is possible. High tides for Tampa Bay are 2:08 a.m. Wednesday, 1:06 p.m. Wednesday, 3:11 a.m. Thursday.

  • Strong, gusty winds
  • Numerous showers/storms
  • Cold front Thursday

The high rain chance we’ve been talking about is on the way. It will start with showers and storms coming in from the gulf overnight into Wednesday morning, with the best coverage across northern counties.

Otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies, with windy conditions and warm lows in the 70s.

There will be showers and storms coming in from the Gulf for Wednesday, with the heaviest amounts in northern counties for the first half of the day. It will then gradually build southward through the day, with heavier storms moving through the entire region by late afternoon to evening.

The good news is this will likely provide a huge swath of heavy rainfall to the entire region, which is good news since we are trying to get out of a drought.

The bad news is it could come with stronger storms, and we’ll have to be ready for strong, gusty winds, possible hail, and a chance for a tornado.

Highs will be held down due to the clouds and rain, mainly in the low to mid 80s. Showers and storms will still be possible Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, with lows in the 70s.

The last of the rain will exit early Thursday, with drying conditions as the front comes through. At that time drier, less humid air will come into the region on Thursday with highs in the mid 80s. Winds will still remain breezy from the west.

We will return to sunny skies and nice conditions for Friday with low humidity and highs in the mid to upper 80s.
