A suspicious device believed to be an old military ordinance forced the evacuation of a residence in Pinellas Park.

It happened about 4 p.m. in the 10000 block of Oakhaven Drive.

The Pinellas Park Police Department said officers responded to a call about a suspicious device. Officers followed by calling out the Tampa Police Bomb Squad.

The bomb squad determined that the device was a spent or inert artillery round, and that it was no longer a threat. They removed it from the home to destroy it.

Investigators believe a previous renter may have left the inert ordinance in the home.
