Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Friday along with a preview of the holiday weekend.

  • Pleasant morning lows
  • Dry weekend
  • Increasing humidity Sunday

The blast of drier air made a huge impact in our atmosphere as expected. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky anywhere across the region.

Expect clear skies to take us into Saturday morning. It will be yet another amazingly comfortable morning for this time of year, with lows dipping into the mid 50s for northern counties and 60s elsewhere.

We’ll see a warming trend through the weekend and slowly increasing humidity.

Saturday will start out beautiful but it will get warmer, with inland areas getting into the low to mid 90s. The coast will be the place to be, as highs stop in the upper 80s. Skies will be mostly sunny, with no chance of rain again as the atmosphere will be too dry.

Saturday night will be clear and pleasant with lows in the 60s.

Sunday will wrap up the weekend on a nice note with mostly sunny skies, but humidity will start increasing. Highs will be near 90 for coastal regions, but low to mid 90s inland.

Next week will feature increasing humidity and more typical summer like conditions.

NATIONAL:

Widespread severe thunderstorms are likely from the Ozark Plateau into the lower Ohio Valley.  Large to giant hail, tornadoes, and wind damage are possible for parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and eastward into portions of the Ohio Valley on Saturday.

CARIBBEAN:

A tropical wave is over the SW Caribbean, producing strong showers into Central America.  Otherwise, high pressure over the central Atlantic extends across the eastern Caribbean Sea. Strong easterly winds are moving across the east and central Caribbean, with strong to near gale force winds near the coast of Colombia.

The strong winds over the central Caribbean will diminish this weekend.
