Police say two men got into an argument in front of an auto parts store and that one man shot the other.

The incident happened about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 6100 block of South Dale Mabry Highway, between Bay and Ohio avenues, according to the Tampa Police Department.

  • Victim has non-life-threatening injuries

Witnesses told police the men were arguing on the east side of Dale Mabry Highway.

Ivan Diaz, 21, is accused of firing shots at the victim but missing.

Authorities said Diaz then crossed Dale Mabry Highway to the west side of the street, with the other man following him.

The verbal argument continued, according to police, and Diaz shot the victim in the groin area and fled the scene.

Robinson High School was briefly placed on lockdown during the investigation.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Diaz was taken into custody but police haven't announced charges.
