5:30 p.m. update: The Citrus County Sheriff's posted on Twitter: "After 5 days & 3,000 plus hours of searching for 72 yr old Carol McHugh, the decision has been made to suspend the search for Carol."

PREVIOUS STORY: Tuesday marks Day 5 for the Citrus County Sheriff Office's search for 72-year-old Carol McHugh.

She was last seen Thursday in Inverness. McHugh has dementia, which the sheriff said has made the search more difficult.

Deputies and volunteers searched for McHugh all weekend. Monday, Juan Fuentes went door to door handing out flyers.

"That could be your grandmother. That could be a family member and I would be anguished if that was a family member of mine, so I would do anything in my power to find her," Fuentes said.

And for the family, help from volunteers like Juan means the world.

"I think awareness especially with missing persons is key," said Dani Phillips, Carol's granddaughter. "You know my grandma had a lot of hobbies, a lot of recreational activities, a lot of people she's known because she's been here a long time. So any information could be what solves this for us. There's a piece missing right now and we need that piece."

If you see Carol or know where she might be, the Sheriff's Office asks that you call 911 immediately at (352) 726-4488.

The Sheriff's Office released a statement regarding the search Tuesday morning: "We appreciate the community support and many donations of food and water for our troops.

"It's very obvious that Carol is loved by everyone. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers."
