Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Friday on through the weekend.

  • Early start to storms
  • Eastward movement
  • Lots of moisture Monday

Skies will be partly cloudy overnight into early Saturday morning. There will be a few passing showers, but otherwise expect a lull in the activity for a period of time overnight.

Then, there will be a new batch of scattered storms that forms in the gulf and near the coast for the morning and starts coming ashore around sunrise.

Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s at the coast and low 70s inland.

Like we saw for Friday, expect the scattered storms to get an early start near coastal areas and move inland into Saturday afternoon.

Therefore, most of the storms will move away from the coast by the afternoon, and the best chance of storms by the evening will be from Polk County eastward to the other side of the state. Highs will be near 90.

Saturday night will feature only an isolated chance of a lingering storm. Otherwise, we'll see partly cloudy skies with mostly quiet conditions. Lows will be in the mid 70s.

Enjoy the quieter conditions from that point into Sunday morning, because a more active pattern will come back quickly by Sunday evening.

We’ll start with partly cloudy skies Sunday morning, but expect increasing clouds during the day with numerous scattered storms coming back into our area by late Sunday. Highs will be near 89 before the clouds and storms cool us down.

A huge plume of tropical moisture will move northward into the gulf Monday into Tuesday. Even if nothing tropical develops, we will still get tons of moisture moving into our area. You can expect numerous showers and storms in the area with cloudy skies.

High temperatures will be much lower, mainly staying in the mid low to mid 80s at that time.
