The state's largest pride event is going on this weekend in downtown St. Pete. There's a lot planned throughout the weekend.

  • Many came out to celebrate diversity, attendees

Thousands descended upon downtown of St. Pete that boasts about being a gay-friendly city.

"It’s all love. I just wish people would realize that," said Laurie Nok-Hope.

"This is my first time I've ever been to pride, I'm finally able to be myself be around people like myself and my whole community. It’s fantastic," said Zane Dezzeuw.

Those attending wore all colors imaginable while they celebrated diversity and love.

"I’m just happy to see people out and celebrating and it takes courage to be here," Tena Nok-Hope said.

An estimated 200,000 people showed up to the event, while 5,000 were in the parade alone.

"You see gay people, you see lesbians, you see bi people, you also see great people with their families telling their kids they can grow up and be ok and be who they are that’s what I wish I had growing up you know," said Dezzeuw.

This year marks the 15th year for the pride parade.
