Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning, as well as a look at midweek conditions.

A few lingering showers lasted into the evening across the area.

Things will quiet down through the overnight hours. A few showers may try to form near the coast around daybreak Tuesday.

With a light wind pattern from the west developing, showers and thunderstorms will begin mid to late morning near the coast, then transition inland Tuesday afternoon.

By midweek, an east wind pattern will set up bringing us into a typical summertime weather pattern, with morning sunshine and afternoon/evening storms each day.

NATIONAL

Very hot weather continued in the Desert Southwest with highs near 115 degrees once again today.  A cold front will drop temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, but gusty winds are expected in the Great Basin, Utah, and Northwest.  Elsewhere, severe thunderstorms are possible in the Central and Northern Great Plains.

TROPICAL UPDATE 

No tropical activity is expected to develop in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico for the next 4-5 days.
