The girl fell from The Great Escape ride Saturday and hit a tree before being caught by guests and employees 25 feet below who gathered underneath her to make sure she didn't hit the ground, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

She was taken to Glens Falls Hospital by ambulance, and later transported via helicopter to Albany Medical Center where she remained in stable condition as of Sunday evening.

A 47-year-old Schenectady man suffered a back injury attempting to catch the victim. He was taken to Glens Falls Hospital where he was treated and released.

Matthew Howard Sr. and his 21-year-old daughter were among those who helped catch the girl. They were leaving the park when they saw her dangling from the ride. They say that all they could think about was saving her and making sure she was OK.

"'Is she alright?' That's all I could think about. I wanted to go to the hospital to see her last night but she needed to be taken care of," said Howard.

Howard and his daughter visited the girl at Albany Medical Center Sunday morning. They say she is staying positive and the family is grateful.

"She’s alive and that’s all that matter. It doesn’t matter what happened, it doesn’t matter who helped in what situation. At the end of the day, a little girl’s life was saved. And that’s all that matters," said Leeann Winchell, the daughter of Howard, Sr.

A represenatative for The Great Escape says the New York State Department of Labor has cleared the ride for operation, but it will remain closed while the park conducts an internal review.

The park was never shut down.
