Investigators said the suspects damaged tombs in the the Crystal Springs Cemetery near Zephryhills. Cemetery volunteer Chuck Flanagan was set to mow the grass on the cemetery grounds when he noticed something was wrong.

"I saw a big hole, probably 3 or 4 feet deep, and a pile of dirt," Flanagan said.

Body camera footage from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office shows the hole, which Flanagan said was a grave the vandals dug up.

"I was really upset about it," Flanagan said. "I try to keep the cemetery looking good and take care of it. To know that there is sick people around here that would do something like that is very disgusting."

It's not known who was buried in the dug-up grave, as it was already damaged. The vandals reportedly dug around and attempted to move a large stone from a second grave, one belonging to Elyse Brofe, who passed away in 1930.

Cemetery association president Cindy Cornellius said the damage has upset many families in the area.

"Pretty sickening," said Cornelius. "Who would do something like this? This is a cemetery."

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.  Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to contact them.
