The first debate for the St. Petersburg mayoral race is taking place Tuesday evening.

  • Mayoral debate in St. Petersburg
  • Likely candidates for first debate: Current mayor Rick Kriseman and challenger (and former mayor) Rick Baker
  • Debate scheduled for 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church

Candidates polling at 10 percent and higher are eligible for the debate. That likely only puts current mayor Rick Kriseman and challenger (and former mayor) Rick Baker in the debate.

The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, located at 955 20th Street South.

Other candidates who will be in the mayoral primary race include Anthony Cates III, Paul Congemi, Ernisa Barnwell, Theresa “Momma Tee” Lassiter, and Jesse Nevel.

Meanwhile, Bay News 9 is teaming up with St. Pete College and the Tampa Bay Times for a televised mayoral debate on July 25.

Campaign fundraising records will be used to determine who will be part of that debate.
