Friday will be partly sunny, with a 50 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the low 90s for the afternoon.
This weekend will feature partly sunny skies with scattered thunderstorms each day, mainly in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s at the coast to the low 90s inland each afternoon.
Tuesday is the Fourth of July and we expect typical summer weather -- some sunshine and scattered thunderstorms later in the day with the sea breeze. Highs will be in the low 90s.
NATIONAL
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain possible through tonight from the central Plains to the mid-Mississippi valley.
An old stationary front is expected to bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms from the Plains to the Northeast through Friday. Severe thunderstorms along with heavy rain are possible today from the central Plains to the mid-Mississippi valley.
On Friday, the threat for severe weather will shift a bit southward and eastward, from the southern plains through the mid-Mississippi valley to portions of the lower Great Lakes and the Northeast. Farther south, a weakening stationary frontal boundary will along with a moist and unstable air mass will produce scattered to numerous afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms across much of the Gulf Coast and the Southeast.
Showers and thunderstorms should become more numerous across the Southeast Friday night into Saturday as moisture and instability move farther north ahead of the incoming cold front.
Across the western U.S., generally dry conditions will prevail through the next couple days. A building upper-level ridge will support rising temperatures across the West Coast states.
High temperatures are forecast to be 5 to 10 degrees above average from California to Washington. By Friday, highs across these same areas will warm further with some areas reaching 15 degrees above average, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, where some areas will rise into the 90s.
