An escaped prisoner was captured over the weekend in the Withlacoochee State Forest.

  • He was found Saturday afternoon on Croom Tract in Brooksville
  • Trutt is originally from Brooksville area

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said it happened Saturday when deputies responded to the Croom Tract to search for Tyler Michael Trutt, 20, who had escaped from a Lake City facility.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Trutt failed to return from a work release program job in Gilchrist County.

An aviation and K-9 unit were called to assist with the search for Trutt, who is originally from the Brooksville area.

Trutt was driving a stolen vehicle on Trail 7 of the Croom Tract in Brooksville when he was found about 5 p.m., deputies said.

He was taken into custody without incident.
