Some business owners in Citrus County are upset over a new traffic pattern that they say is preventing people from accessing their stores.

  • Business owners upset over new traffic pattern on W. Norvell Bryant Hwy
  • Businesses say new pattern blocks access to stores
  • Owners to discuss issue with county commissioners Friday morning

The new pattern is on West Norvell Bryant Highway. The DOT installed what they call a pork chop, because people from a nearby gas station were driving illegally on the road to make a left turn.

Now, people traveling eastbound can’t turn into those businesses.

County commissioners said there needs to be more conversation between those business owners and the county.

“We understand there could be some traffic safety issues. We were sent out an email saying a pork chop was going in. I don’t think most of us realized. We need to go back to our administration and have a conversation on trying to find a better solution than what we have here today,” Scott Carahan, Citrus County Commissioner, said.

Business owners plan to meet with county officials Friday morning and commissioners also plan to discuss the issue during their meeting on Tuesday.
