Dylan Garland was found early Saturday on the side of U.S. Highway 301. His family said his body is currently on life support so that his organs can be donated.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office Garland was last seen leaving a bar around midnight and may have been walking.

Garland had been staying at Circle of Veterans in Dade City for the last four months. The home helps veterans integrate into society.

"Everyone at the house right now, they are not doing too well," said the home's Manny Guevara.

Guevara said Garland had been trying to get his life back in order by staying at the home.

"He was trying to get his head straight. He was trying to move forward. Things were looking very promising for him," Guevara said.

Saying goodbye

Garland's family said his body is currently on life support so that his organs can be donated.

Garland's younger sister, Tabitha Roberts, came down from North Carolina to say her goodbyes to him.

"I feel like I've cried myself out," Roberts said. "Like there's no more tears in me. But I know they are going to keep coming."

What actually happened to Garland remains a mystery.

"He doesn't have any bruises, scrapes  nothing," said Roberts. "The only injury is on his head."

The family hopes an autopsy will tell them more in the future. For now, they're simply planning their goodbyes.

The case is still under investigation.
