The body found in a nature preserve earlier this week has been identified as that of a teen girl who had been reported missing, and investigators are working the case as a homicide.

Janessa Shannon, 13, was reported missing July 2. Ten days later, a hiker found a badly decomposed body in a heavily wooded area of the Triple Creek Nature Preserve.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office released the identity of the body Saturday.

Investigators are now treating the case as a homicide.
