The town of Indian Shores held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the “Gulf Boulevard Beautification Streetscape Project.”

The city wants to continue to improve the community and place new plants along 2.6 miles of Indian Shores. The plants will be drought and salt tolerant and designed for the beach and sand environment.

The project also includes undergrounding of the utilities, new bus stop decals, streetlight banners, and municipal signs that feature an iconic Native American figure.

The project, which is funded by “Penny for Pinellas” and an FDOT grant, is expected to take three months to complete.
