A community fundraising event is underway to help the victims of the Land O’Lakes sinkhole.
Penny Foote lives just a few miles from the neighborhood where the massive hole opened up Friday.
"My heart just dropped and had to do something," Foote said.
So, the single mother started a Facebook group, as a way to organize the community to help.
As of Wednesday, the page has nearly 2,000 members and Foote’s living room is now full of donations.
Foote said all of the donations are being given to families, based on their proximity to the sinkhole.
