The Clearwater Police Department is conducting a back to school drive to help kids get ready to go back to school.

  • Clearwater Police to hold back-to-school drive Saturday
  • Drive held Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Walmart Supercenter

With the first day of classes just around the corner on Aug. 10, the police department's command bus will be at two local Walmarts to collect supplies.

The goal is to stuff the bus with as many school supplies as possible to assist Clearwater students.

The command bus will be at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, located at the corner of Belcher Road and Gulf-to-Bay Blvd, until 7 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, the bus will be at the Walmart Supercenter, located at the corner of State Road 590 and U.S. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"When you're buying school supplies for your child, please pick up a couple of extra items for those who are less fortunate," said Sgt. Wilton Lee, head of the community liaison team. "If everybody does a small part, we can make a big difference in our community."
