  • Search ensued; her body was recovered Monday evening

According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Tammy Barth and her husband, Mark, of Apollo Beach were scalloping throughout the day Monday.

Deputies said Mark Barth returned to the couple's boat late in the afternoon as storms were approaching.

He entered the boat and blew the air horn for Tammy, which they normally do when one party returns, authorities said. Tammy did not answer the air horn call. After a brief search by Mark Barth, he called authorities over his marine radio, and Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers arrived.

Tammy Barth was found in the water unresponsive and declared dead just before 7 p.m.

Officials said an autopsy would be conducted, but the death appears to be a drowning.
