A 72-year-old woman is recovering after a man pistol-whipped and robbed her in the middle of the day Wednesday at her Wesley Chapel home.

  • Elderly woman attacked, robbed at home in the middle of the day
  • Investigators say Jackie Hanlin was pistol-whipped by a robber
  • Man barged into Hanlin's home with 2 semi-automatic handguns
  • Sheriff's office searching for suspect

Jackie Hanlin is thankful to be alive today.

“The emotions are like a roller-coaster, you are so happy that you survived it, but you are also terrified," said Hanlin.

Hanlin was at her Wesley Chapel home Wednesday afternoon when her front door flew open and a man was standing there with two semi-automatic handguns.

“He then strikes her across the head with one of the guns, and then places her in the bathroom," said Sheriff Chris Nocco.

Investigators said the man got away with guns and prescription pills. Fortunately, he left Hanlin in the bathroom. And because she got a good look at the man, the sheriff’s office now has a sketch of the man--a face that is haunting Hanlin.

“He has destroyed a part of a human being, simply by his actions, and it has been very difficult, for nothing," said Hanlin.

Hanlin said she just hopes the man is found.

“When we find you, the full extent and force of the Pasco Sheriff's Office will be coming down on you, I promise you that," said Sheriff Nocco.

The suspect is described as a black man with medium height. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
