People looking out over the Anna Maria Island waters got quite a sight Thursday afternoon.

A waterspout spun in the skies above the area. The spout was in the sky for several minutes during the afternoon storms. It did not come near any land.

Bay News 9 received multiple images Thursday evening of the waterspout as storms rolled across the area.

One woman described watching the funnel cloud as a blessing and a calming moment. She captured her own images from a safe distance.

"It’s almost like, it’s a calming feeling," Carol Brenneman, spotted waterspout. "It’s just beautiful. I’ve always been addicted to the weather. We actually feel blessed when we saw it today we were just like that is just something."

The small low pressure to our south that will be drifting northward this weekend will end up in the Atlantic east of Cape Canaveral Saturday and Sunday.
