Weather Forecast

Evening storms will end north of Tampa Bay, but will likely linger south and possibly east overnight. Low temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 70s.

  • Storms start early south of Tampa
  • Temps in the upper 70s
  • Rain chances drop starting Tuesday

Low pressure will start moving off the northeast Florida coast Sunday.

Sunday, there will be a trailing trough extending southwest from the Atlantic to around Tampa Bay. This will mainly be the dividing line. North of the line will be an off-shore wind. Storms will mainly be in the afternoon north of Tampa Bay. South of the line will have an onshore wind and more atmospheric moisture. Rain chances will be elevated here and will start early in the day Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low 90s north to the upper 80s south.

Sunday night, storms will still be possible, especially south of Tampa Bay.

On Monday the low pressure area will lift northeast up along the mid-Atlantic coast. Some slightly drier air will be able to work its way into northern parts of the area in the wake of the low. There will be slightly lower rain chances for the Nature Coast. Deeper moisture will continue across areas south and east of Tampa Bay. Rain chances will be higher here.

During Tuesday through Wednesday, winds will be out of the south to west, so storms could start early near the coast and will work inland. The rain chance will be around 40 percent.

Starting Thursday, sea breeze driven showers and thunderstorms are expected each day during the afternoon and evening hours.

Flooding rains will continue over southeastern Texas all the way into mid-week. Harvey will continue to weaken, but will linger there, producing heavy rain.
