A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Manatee County through Monday evening.

However, flooding is possible elsewhere across the Tampa Bay area with slow-moving storms continuing through this evening.

Evening storms will end north of Tampa Bay, but will likely linger south and possibly east overnight. Low temperatures will drop to the mid and upper 70s.

One area of low pressure is starting moving off the northeast Florida coast.

It will be breezy on Monday as the other low pressure area will still linger across the area. There will be northeast off-shore wind in the wake of the low for the Nature Coast. Storms for Nature Coast will develop in the afternoon. Deeper moisture though will continue across Tampa Bay and areas south and east of Tampa Bay. Rain chances will be higher here, and will start early in the day.

During Tuesday, high moisture remains across the area. Winds will be out of the southwest, so storms will start early at the coast and will develop inland in the afternoon. The rain chance is 60 percent.

Wednesday, winds will be out of the south to west, so storms could start early near the coast and will work inland. The rain chance will be around 40 percent.

MANATEE COUNTY FLOOD WATCH

A flood watch remains in effect through Monday evening for Manatee and Sarasota counties.

An area of low pressure across west central Florida is providing deep tropical moisture and southwest winds...allowing numerous to widespread showers and occasional embedded thunderstorms to move over the area. Locally heavy rainfall will continue to be possible through the period which will exacerbate ongoing flooding across the region and will produce additional flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas especially in areas where the training of
cells occur.

Widespread showers with occasional embedded thunderstorms will be possible across the watch area. Heavy rainfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches will be possible with some locally higher amounts possible.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks, and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Flood Advisory has been issued for the following counties until 6:30 p.m.:

  • Southeastern Citrus County
  • North central Pasco County
  • Southeastern Hernando County

At 4:27 p.m. radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Spring Hill, Brooksville, Bushnell, Weeki Wachee, Hill n Dale, South Brooksville, Hernando County Airport, North Brooksville, Timber Pines, North Weeki Wachee, Webster, Shady Hills, Wahoo, Weeki Wachee Acres, Garden Grove, Nobleton, Istachatta, Croom, Brookridge and Masaryktown.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
